Marvel Heroes Omega Hits PS4 With a Beta
If you ever played the Ultimate Alliance or X-Men Legends games you might want to checkout the free-to- play Marvel Heroes Omega game now available on PS4. This was on PC for years but now is making its console debut (XBOX One will be getting the game on June 20th). I tried this on my laptop years ago and liked it until my laptop crapped out so I am stoked to get to play it again on my PS4. If you know you liked it from playing the PC version or just want a bit of a head start there are a few founder's packs available starting at $20 that will give you access to characters, skins, in-game currency, and boosts. You can get Daredevil for free and if you have PS Plus there is an alternate Daredevil rocking the all black street clothes look. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!

Donald Glover Developing an animated Deadpool show for FXX!
Donald Glover the man who can seemingly do no wrong is bringing his talents to FXX for an animated Deadpool show and I am already in love with this. He will be writing the show with his brother and they will also be serving as showrunners and executive producers to it along with Marvel's TV head Jeph Loeb. Loeb issued this statement
"How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX _ the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth. We're thrilled that out relationship with FX that started with "Legion" continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."
There are still a lot of details to be revealed like who will be doing the voices and all that but it has already been signed up for a 10 episode deal and is supposed to hit next year. My early hope is that if they can't get Ryan Reynolds (which let's just say it now, that is a pretty long shot) maybe they can get Nolan North to reprise DP. He has voiced him for the animated Hulk vs Wolverine movie and the Deadpool game so I would love to see him in a regular series. Who would you like to see popup in this show? Let's just hope it gets the love it should and of course let's hope they keep the mantra of MAXIMUM EFFORT going!

Impressions of Netflix's Iron Fist
Hi my name is Dany and I am what you may call a pretty big Iron Fist fan. On instagram and twitter I am @thedanyrand (I went with the one "n" cause I saw an old Irish fighter with that and being mostly Irish I took it), I have his first appearance issue (Marvel Premiere #15),
and there may or may not be a tattoo of Shou Lao in the mix. So before I give my impressions on the Netflix version you know I am not only a fan but pretty familiar with the character. Iron Fist has been my favorite comic character for years and years so I was beyond pumped when I heard he was getting his own show. Now I wanted to give myself a bit of time to watch Iron Fist and not just pull the usual binge watching move and as I was watching I would see reviews pop up about how it is basically terrible. So real quick I wanted to run down my thoughts and see what you all have to say about it. Let it be said now I have finished the show and will be bouncing around it a but so this is your spoiler warning.
Firstly I want to touch on the big talking point from before it even aired. Should Iron Fist be Asian? As a recap let me just say Danny is not the first or only Iron Fist. Danny is the 66th and most of them have been Asian. That was something that I always liked about the character he was the outsider who won the title and became the protector of K'un Lun. So you can use an Asian Iron Fist but to fit with the other characters especially Luke Cage, Cage and Danny were known for years as the Heroes for Hire and are best friends in the books, they were best off using the Danny Rand that we see on the show.
Now to get to the show itself and how I think it breaks down. It seems like critics across the board hated it but a lot of fans liked it. For what it's worth I liked it too. It told a pretty good story that not only tied in a lot of Iron Fist lore but also made the most out of what has been established throughout the other Netflix series. Now that doesn't mean it is perfect or that I don't think it had problems. The biggest one for me is the fighting. There are a few good fights and I was stoked when Danny and Davos squared off for a bit but it was slow moving and you could tell Finn Jones wasn't a martial artist. As anyone who ever tried duplicating a move they saw JCVD do in Kickboxer (don't give me that look I know you did it too) knows martial arts are not easy. I read that Finn only got about 3 weeks of training in before schedules got crossed and he was training on set during filming. So I can see the fights not being their best and I hope that for the defenders he will be a bit more polished.
As far as the story went I liked that they didn't go overboard on trying to show too much of K'un Lun and especially Danny fighting Shou Lao. A guy fighting a dragon sounds rad but that is a tall order to pull off well in a movie much less a tv show. We got to see the heroin from the very first Daredevil season be worked into and followed up on here. As soon as I saw the Steel Serpent logo I knew we were looking at Crane Mother and have waited a long time to see that pay off and I think they did it really well. There were a few more nods to the comics as there always are but the other big stand out was seeing the Bride of Nine Spiders pop up and look so comic accurate.

The karaoke singer turned fighter also in that episode was a character called Scythe who was in Marvel Premiere #16. Not nearly as notable but a cool nod to the fans. The other standout moment was seeing Orson Randall who was the Iron Fist before Danny. He is the one you see in the old clip that Bakuto shows Danny in episode 10.
Now before I nerd out any harder I am going to stop myself and ask what you all thought. What did you like? What did you hate? What do you hope to see in the recently announced Defenders show? One last thing- if you are interested in the character of Iron Fist and want to check out some of his comic work then what I think is one of if not his best run is the Immortal Iron Fist run from 2007. You can get them as trades pretty easily or download digitally. If you want to look like the kinda person who can go off for 15 years then come back to NY and take on an evil cult of ninja's then we have the shirt for you. Pick up your own Rand Enterprises tee
online at Shirtnado or come out this weekend and see us at the Steel City Con in Monroeville PA.

New Comic Day Pick - March 22
This week I am of course giving my pick to Iron Fist #1. This is the start of a new run that is written by Ed Brisson with art by Mike Perkins. K'un Lun has been destroyed and Danny is having a hard time keeping his chi in check and is off picking fights to challenge himself but will he get too deep too fast? Let's hope with the Netflix show just having premiered this run gets a good chance to tell a rad long lasting story.

New Comic Day Pick - March 8
This week's pick is Old Man Logan #19. With the release of Logan this is a book that I think everyone should be reading. It follows an alternate future Logan now that he is in the main Marvel universe following the events of Secret Wars from 2015. The official description for this issue is the following..
PRISON BREAK WITH OLD MAN LOGAN! A failure from the past haunts LOGAN...and to correct his mistakes, he'll need magical assistance. But when he faces opposition, Logan will turn to an unlikely - and potentially treacherous - ally! Will an encounter with MILES MORALES convince Logan to alter his path?
Written by Jeff Lemire and art by Andrea Sorrentino this is a consistently rad book that puts a nice spin on Wolverine. What are you picking up this week and have you been keeping up with this run of Logan? What do you think of this version of old Wolvey?

Deadpool 2 Trailer!!
Rad huh? Now none of that will be in the sequel but it's more Deadpool so who is complaining. We get Wade being extremely Wade-like, a Stan Lee pop in, and the Superman theme which is without a doubt the greatest theme in movie history. You also may have noticed that scroll at the end and unless you are an uber nerd you probably didn't pause to read it. Again have no fear cause we have it here. It was a summary on "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway that looks like it may have been written by Wade himself. This could be a nod to Logan himself or maybe a look ahead to Deadpool and Cable's relationship in the sequel but judge for yourself after you read it here.
"The Old Man and the Sea is the story of a fight between an elderly, accomplished fisherman, Santiago, and a really big fish. Like… HUGE. The story opens with Santiago suffering eighty-four days without catching a fish because he’s the unluckiest son-of-a-bitch on planet earth. Honestly, if you were in a boat for eighty-four days, it’d be hard to NOT catch a fish… even by accident. Santiago was so unlucky that his apprentice, Manolin, was forbidden by his Ma and Pa to fish with him. But as The Fresh Prince used to say, ‘Parents Just Don’t Understand’. So the boy visits Santiago’s shack anyway.
Ignoring the inherent risks of unsupervised playtime with an elderly man who talks to himself, Manolin helps out, moving Santiago’s fishing gear, making food and talking about baseball. Especially Joe DiMaggio; who used to bump fuzzies with Marilyn Monroe. The next day, Santiago tells Manolin that he’s going way out into the Gulf Stream. WAY OUT north of Cuba. Lady luck is returning!
On the eighty-fifth day of his crappy luck, Santiago drops his lines, and by noon, gets a bite from what feels like a big ass fish. He’s sure it’s a winner. He fights and fights and fights but can’t pull the monster in. Santiago’s leaky old boat is pulled by the fish for two days and nights as he holds on for dear life. Even though he’s bloody and beat, Santiago begins to appreciate this mighty adversary. He starts calling him “brother” or maybe even, “bro.” It’s sort of a love story if you really think about it. And like most romantic comedies, the reader pictures a delightful outfit changing montage, followed by the inevitable interspecies wedding.
But on the third day, Santiago is freakin’ EXHAUSTED, and decides he just wants the fish to do what he says and not always swim wherever it wants. So he stabs it. With a fucking harpoon. It’s a mess. Super gross. Blood everywhere. Because, like many men his age, Santiago has difficulty expressing his emotions and fears with words - instead giving in to base desires - and imposing his gigantically terrible positions on any given subject through unblinking violence. Typical.
Anyway, he straps the marlin to the side of his skiff and hits the road home, ready to act like a total show off to everyone and probably gouge people on the price. But guess what? Pretty soon sharks begin to attack the bleeding marlin’s carcass, because we all know, life is a tragic opera and just when you think you’ve finally found something good and true, sharks come along and rip it all to fucking shreds while dry-humping your dignity with their crazy-weird shark dicks. Sure, Santiago tries killing a few of them, but drops his harpoon because his hands are just as old as he is. By nighttime, the sharks have pretty much eaten the entire marlin.
Only a bleach-white skeleton remains, silently mocking him in the murky darkness. Santiago realizes he’s still unlucky. REALLY unlucky. (Duh!) He calls the sharks “dream killers”. Which isn’t really all that fair. I mean, the sharks were just doing their job and the marlin… Jesus, don’t even get me started on the marlin! It was just hanging out one day, minding it’s own business, maybe thinking about ways it could be a better provider for it’s family and WHAM! Harpoon in the brain. Who’s the “dream killer” now, fuckface? The hypocrisy is pretty much boundless at this point.
Eventually Santiago makes it ashore. Leaving the bones of the marlin and the boat, he hobbles to his shack. He makes it home and crashes, like I said - he’s super tired. The next morning a group of fishermen gather around Santiago’s boat. One measures the skeleton and, holy shit-shingles! It’s over 18 feet! The head of the fish is given to Pedrico (strange that this is the first mention of him) and the other fishermen ask Manolin to send their glad tidings to the old man.
Manolin brings Santiago newspapers and coffee when he wakes and they decide to fish together again. Many years later, there’s a Red Lobster Restaurant in nearly every city in America, offering a casual dining experience and convenient parking."
That is a rambling book report of the highest order and the bit about sharks dry- humping your dignity is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Now while we rewatch this trailer a few more times you can watch in style with our Maximum Effort tee available here!!

Iron Fist Trailer!!
Netflix put out the first trailer for Iron Fist today and it looks awesome! They have kept up the quality for the final Defender to make his debut and I can't wait. It is really rad to see the Crane Mother from the first season of Daredevil back after being teased so long ago. This will be like the other first seasons and be an origin tale but I am expecting it to lead into the Defenders by the end and maybe we will get a little Luke and Danny Heroes for Hire action. Check out the trailer below and check out the Rand Enterprises shirt just released here so you will be ready for the season to drop on March 17!

Ego Funko Pop from Guardians Vol 2
Funko has released a look at the character Kurt Russell will be playing in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. We already knew he was going to be playing Ego the living planet and would be Star Lords dad but people familiar with the character from the comics have been wondering how he would look on screen. In the comics Ego is very literally a living planet. In the comic he can form the land to make a face to interact with people, the beard makes no sense I grant you but what sentient planet doesn't want to look dignified.
He has battled Thor, Galactus, and the Nova Corps so he is a pretty heavy hitter. He started as a bit of a villain but recently has become a nonviolent entity in the Marvel Universe. How he will fit in the movie could be anyone's guess but if anyone can do it it is James Gunn. It is worth pointing out that Ego is not Peter Quill's dad in the comics so how he will fit in the cinematic universe is something we will have to see. Now seeing the Funko version of Ego shows that he will be in a more human looking form for at least part of the movie. I am guessing that This human version is something like an avatar that Ego can send out to maybe further his own goals on other planets. We still have some time until Guardians Vol. 2 hits in May so until then check out the Funko Pop! version and let us know what you think of Star Lord's dad.

New Comic Day Pick - Jan 18
This week's pick is Mighty Captain Marvel #1. Coming out of the Civil War 2 story line Carol is one of the biggest heroes on the planet and I'm sure that nothing bad will happen to ruin that for her. Captain Marvel has been getting a good push from Marvel and as we get ready for her introduction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe expect her to keep gaining momentum. Written by Margaret Stohl and art by Ramon Rosanas. There will be multiple covers and we are featuring the Alex Ross one because, come on he is Alex Ross how could we not.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Extended Trailer
There is a new trailer for MvC and it is mostly what we have seen but this one has 2 new character reveals. Morrigan and Cap himself pop up at the :49 second mark. This brings us to 6 fighters that have been announced so far. This game looks rad already and you can pick up Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 on PS4 if you haven't check that one out on last gen's consoles now to get yourself ready. Who do you want to see in this new version? There will be a few spots to fill since we won't be getting any of the mutants from Marvel due to licensing issues so who can step in and take on Ryu and the gang now?

Madballs Return with Marvel?
The blind box Madballs we got were a pretty big hit. I think a few might have even made it past our guys at the store and got picked up by a few people so thats a win. We have more being unboxed and put up in the store for purchase at our brick and mortar location in Braddock, PA or online so if you missed the first rush time to make up for it is now!!
I can't wait for the O.G. Madballs to come back and finger crossed we will have those in the next week or so but as I was checking up on them I noticed this article. You can check it out here but basically along with the classic Madballs they are also putting some Marvel ones in this line. The prototype is of Venom and he looks rad! The article is from this time last year so let's hope that this is still a thing cause I need this guy. Who would you like to see from Marvel get the Madballs treatment next?

Looking ahead to Spider-Man: Homecoming
In case you didn't notice we are pretty into all the comic movies that we have had since Iron Man came out and showed that these characters can be put on the big screen and bring the masses in. While we are a few months away from a new one hitting I have been biding my time rewatching and rereading a good bit of Marvel stuff. Which all lead me to this - What do we think the next Spidey movie will be like? There have been 5 Spider-Man movies since 2002 and so far 2 different actors have played Peter Parker. Some have done it well (Spider-man 2) and some have not (Spider-man 3). The current Peter Parker is played by Tom Holland who has made his introduction already in Captain America : Civil War. I wasn't sure how Marvel was going to set him up as he is basically being re-introduced to the audiences this time living in the current MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) through Civil War. I was beyond happy that they skipped the origin story out right. At this point I think even kids who never heard of Spider-man just know that he was bit by a radioactive spider, kind of sort of let his uncle die, and then decided to become a hero to make up for it. The last thing Civil War needed was a long Spidey origin tale in the middle of it so instead we find him 6 months into the job. Since we have met Peter and seen what he can do what can we expect in his new movie Spider-Man: Homecoming?
From the details that have made it out things are looking pretty good. This movie seems to be centered on the high school Peter Parker. A lot of the actors announced seem to be cast as either students or teachers so looks like the school will be a major point throughout the story. I have been reading through the Ultimate run written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Mark Bagley until Stuart Immonen took over. If you never checked it out this was a retelling of old web head for a new audience. It focused mostly on the high school Peter and retold a lot of his famous story arcs taking place in a post 2000 setting. I could just be being hopeful because I loved this run but it looks like this new set of movies could draw heavily from the Bendis ultimate story. Focusing on establishing himself as Spider-Man while dealing with his everyday problems is what made the character so popular throughout the years and the ultimate line updated those stories for the new generation.
This movie is also giving some villains that haven't been seen on the big screen their time. The main villain looks to be the Vulture with some help from the Tinkerer and the Shocker. There is also a rumor that there could be a fourth bad guy thrown in as well. That seems like a lot to put into one movie but after seeing that the last few Cap movies have basically been Avengers-lite with good guys and bad all over the place Marvel seems to know how to give everyone enough time for them to make sense. Plus if it seems a bit one sided Iron Man can always pop in since he took up being a mentor to Peter in the MCU and maybe we will get the Iron Spider suit (if you don't know what that is go check out the Civil War story in the comics from 2006. Good guys fight each other, some don't make it, and our boy Spidey gets himself a fancy new suit).

Dr. Strange Review (No Spoilers)
I finally saw Doctor Strange last night and while I won't spoil it I will say you need to go see this movie. For background sake I am a pretty big comic guy. I know the books and characters well enough that I don't go to these movies expecting to be surprised. Out of the 4 of us who went I was the only one who knew who Doctor Strange was. One other guy had heard of him from some of the Marvel video games and the others had no idea. We all walked out talking about when we will go see it again so even if you have no clue about this part of the Marvel universe don't worry you will still enjoy it.
The major knock against Marvel movies I hear is that they are all the same origin story again and again. To be honest if you saw the first Iron Man movie then you have more or less heard this story before. Guy is a very successful, cocky, dick who suffers a traumatic setback and goes down the road to redemption and finally being a hero. While the story isn't anything new it is the way it's told that makes this movie amazing.
In a comic the art shows you the beginning and end of Doctor Strange casting a spell and you mind fills in the gap between the panels. Here they had to show the whole process and they nailed it. Magic isn't saying a few words and there it is here. You can see that they are pulling the energy for what happens in as believable a way as possible. That leads into the special effects and this movie is alone in that area. I was watching it and amazed at what I was seeing. The scene with New York folding in on itself is a lot better than the ads make it seem. The other scene you have seen of what looks to be a outer space is done like the old Steve Ditko era comics. It is crazy to see it on the big screen and not done in a cheesy way. I thought the scenes in Inception were done well but Doctor Strange is that times 10. I saw it in 3d and that can be hit or miss but this is the kind of movie thats made for it.
I also think its worth pointing out that this is very much a standalone movie. After the last few Marvel movies have had cameos or co stars of other major characters this is purely Doctor strange. There are a few easter eggs for you to catch but you could walk into this without having seen any previous movie and be totally fine. Of course stay till the end and the end of a Marvel movie is only once the lights are on, all credits have finished, and the guy coming in to sweep up gives you the all clear. The after credit scenes tie Doctor Stange into the overall Marvel movie universe and give a hint to whats to come both for him and with the bigger MU.
If I go on any more it would be spoiler stuff and nobody wants that. So I will just say if you are a fan of comic movies (and if you are here checking out our stuff you most likely are) I completely recommend seeing the good doctor in his first appearance on the big screen. Bonus points if you walk in wearing our shirt ode to his house the Sanctum Sanctorum. You can pick yours up here .
